Joint Meeting of ISBRA and ESBRA 2022

Dear ISBRA Members,

We are pleased to announce that the National Institute on Alcohol Abuse and Alcoholism (NIAAA) has provided some conference grant funds to support the 2nd World Congress on Alcohol and Alcoholism, a joint meeting of the International Society for Biomedical Research on Alcoholism (ISBRA) and the European Society for Biomedical Research on Alcoholism (ESBRA). The Congress will take place September 17-20, 2022 in Cracow, Poland in a hybrid format. The theme is “From bench to bedside: Mechanisms and novel treatment options for alcohol-related disorders.” Details are available at: ISBRA webpage.

Through a competitive process, the NIAAA R13 ISBRA conference support grant will provide partial travel support for selected ISBRA members to present at the meeting. Priority will be given to junior level alcohol researchers (≤8 years past their doctorate degree) and scientists from underrepresented demographic groups or countries. To be considered for support, the applicant must be an active member of ISBRA and be up-to-date on their dues. Individuals who are not already ISBRA members are encouraged to apply online for membership separately at ISBRA membership . Any ISBRA membership questions should be directed to [email protected] The next ISBRA membership application deadline is July 1st but please apply by July 1, 2022 to be considered for this support opportunity.

The online application for this NIAAA R13 travel support opportunity is available on the ISBRA website and must be submitted by June 15th, 2022 to receive priority consideration. The applications will be reviewed and applicants will be informed as to whether or not they have been selected to receive any travel assistance. If selected, the amount of travel assistance and allowable expenses for reimbursement will be delineated in the notification email.

As the NIAAA R13 grant is federally funded, the Fly America Act must be followed () by any individuals receiving air travel support. Airline tickets that do not meet the specifications outlined in the guidelines of the NIH Grants Policy Statement link above cannot be reimbursed by this R13 grant.

All reimbursements for those selected for support from this NIAAA R13 grant will occur after the Congress.
